The Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom” is an independent, non-partisan, voluntary, democratic, public, and self-governing organization of the Jewish community in Bulgaria. It is the successor to the Consistory (1939) and to the Cultural and Educational Public Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria (until 1989).

OEB “Shalom” focuses its activities on preserving Jewish identity, traditions, and values, as well as on protecting the rights and dignity of its members and all Jews in Bulgaria. The organization actively opposes all forms of racism, antisemitism, and hate speech, and works to preserve Jewish historical heritage—synagogues, cemeteries, and monuments.

Своите цели ОЕБ „Шалом“ постига чрез:

  • studying and promoting Jewish history, culture, and traditions
  • marking Jewish holidays, anniversaries, and significant community events
  • organizing cultural and artistic initiatives such as exhibitions, concerts, and theatrical and musical performances
  • holding meetings, symposia, seminars, and educational programs
  • providing social, healthcare, and educational services and support to the Jewish community in Bulgaria
  • participating in solidarity and support initiatives across the country

Heritage and Public Responsibility

OEB “Shalom” works to preserve Jewish historical heritage in Bulgaria by maintaining synagogues, cemetery parks, graves, and monuments.

The organization also administers and manages community property and assets, including those made available for use by third parties.
