Programs

The Program Department of the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom” organizes events and programs for the Jewish community across the country. Regardless of whether the activities are aimed at children, youth, middle-aged participants, or seniors, and whether they involve interest clubs, professional groups, or families with children, the methods used are those of non-formal education. The programs are based on principles of experiential learning, collaboration, and sharing, and are often led by volunteers from the Jewish community.

The community’s goal is to familiarize its members from an early age with the principles of Judaism, Sephardic and Jewish traditions and customs, the Jewish life cycle, Jewish holidays and calendar, Jewish communities around the world, and everything related to the State of Israel. In addition to weekly programs, the organization frequently offers meetings, conferences, summer camps, and seminars, often featuring guest speakers and experts from various fields of cultural and public life.

Programs are usually held at the Jewish Community Center “Beit Am,” as well as in Jewish centers in some of the larger cities in the country, at the Central Sofia Synagogue, and within the framework of various forums, festivals, and events.

Many events are organized in partnership with cultural institutes, institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
